We stayed in a great county park on James Island. It included bike trails, climbing wall, canoeing and more. The park was also convenient to Folly Island. Its Atlantic coast provided fun shelling for the family.
One of our favorite southern plants...
Jenna, Nate, and Dad spent one afternoon climbing on the park's walls.
This wall was portable, hydraulically lifted from a truck bed.
Jenna scampered up her first climb with no hesitation until she looked down as she neared the top.
Nate loved climbing so much we may have to do it periodically as a family when we get home!
Tom Kopp, the head of the climbing facility turned out to have been from Minnesota, and used to work with the Vertical Endeavors climbing gym in St. Paul where I have climbed before.
