We drove up to Idaho into the fertile Snake River Valley.
The Potato Expo Museum was a good introduction to the area.
We learned a lot about the potato industry and its history, and picked up some "Free Potaters for Out-of-Staters"
We were here during the main harvest. It's fun to see the harvesting and cleaning equipment and semi-loads of potatoes.
Huge barns built into the ground keep the potatoes cool and aerated in storage for months. Sod is grown on the roofs as insulation.
